Fusing fired-up Mexican food with a sultry sense of theatre, Bodega Negra serves up a cabaret of feisty flavours and colourful cuisine, with its inventive and imaginative dishes dancing on your plate. We decided to take a closer look…
You say entrada, we say tostada
The menu is a sizzling duo of mainstream Mexico and the exhilarating authenticity of intriguing ingredients and dishes you haven't yet heard of. Starting with the Entradas, let's talk Tostadas. These crisp, flat-roasted tortillas are topped with all sorts of flavoursome foodstuffs. Succulent chicken. Chunky guacamole. Smoked chillies. Sweet roma tomato salsa. And everyone's favourite flavour-of-the-moment – chipotle sauce.
Staying true to Bodega Negra's addictive drama, you've also got a couple of 'Volcanos' – pork for the meat-eaters, portobello mushrooms with charred courgette for the veggie lovers. Volcanos are like a tostada but with the addition of creamy melted cheese on the top, oozing over everything like a delicious lava flow.
Or you've got some cool classics. Guacamole Del La Bodega – corn chips and that famous creamy avocado dip, punched up with zesty lime, coriander, garlic, tomatoes and a kick of chilli.
It's sure not going to be a hot and happening Mexican joint without a wealth of tacos. And Bodega Negra's tacos are so trendy they read like a mixology menu of crazy cocktail creations.
Arctic Char served with salsa pina and taco powder. Conchinita Pibil with pink onion pickle. Fish 'n' Chips served with peas and jicama. And you've got the more familiar too – Chorizo and Sweet Potato with a salsa verde. Chicken Tinga with avocado and coriander. Can't decide? Opt for a Taquiza and get a selection of six for sharing.
Sink your teeth into a fiery fajita of roasted onions and bell peppers, salsa comal, guacamole and sour cream with sticky melted jack cheese. Or hit up a classy take on the street food-favourite burrito – with soft shell crab, chillito, crispy iceberg lettuce and infused green rice. We love the Hamburguesa De La Bodega though, with succulent Angus beef, onion, jalapenos, jack cheese and a thick chipotle salsa, served with seasoned fries.
So what's even more breezy and amazing than eating Bodega Negra dishes? Shunning the party scene and getting their dishes delivered directly to your door, of course. Everyone knows the After Party is the real party anyway.
