A little bit of charm goes a long way. And at Bistro Guy, homely cooking and delicious recipes combine for a truly seductive menu. So whether you're craving a light breakfast or a hearty lunch, this Gillygate cafe has a selection of sumptuous dishes delivered with Yorkshire style.
A cafe anew
Since 2011, this family run bistro has served up warm homely treats in York. Using the skills and experience gleaned from working in the industry for years, head chef Guy, his wife and son have revamped the idyllic Yorkshire cafe.
Passionately proud of their home town, the owners are committed to recreating the quintessential café experience inspired by the best local ingredients and produce – including vegetables grown in their own garden. You'll find mouth-watering bistro classics rubbing shoulders with rib-busting breakfasts and sweet treats.
Variety and spice
When only a hamburger will do, give the Bistro Guy Burger a go – two patties of homemade beef, along with bacon, smoked applewood cheese, mixed herb salad, spicy caramelised tomato chutney, juicy tomato and gherkin with brioche bread bun and homemade thick-cut chunky chips for some crispy bites.
If you're looking for the perfect party sharer, we love their House Platter Board – an extravagant selection of home cooked ham, roast beef and light smoked salmon with fresh olives, grapes and cherry tomatoes served with a generous portion of homemade hummus and a selection of Yorkshire cheeses. Spicy tomato and caramelised onion chutney, fresh salad and artisanal breads round out this refined lunch dish.
For an afternoon pick-me-up, try their range of delicious baked goods for your sweet tooth. The Salted Caramel Short Bread is a classic – sticky caramel coating a buttery shortbread, topped with chocolate. And if you need a little something to wash all the decadence down, the Elderflower Fruit Presse makes refreshing drink. Or there's always the celebratory prosecco, for when you need to break out the bubbles.
