Only 5% of people have the skills and confidence to help in an emergency, according to recent research from The Red Cross. And, this lack of confidence often results in 'bystander effect' – people stopping but not feeling confident enough to help in emergencies.
Deliveroo riders are on our streets and in our communities every single day – and we're now providing first aid training to thousands of riders worldwide, so they can help members of the public who may be in trouble. This means more people on our streets with the skills and confidence to help when things go wrong.
The training sessions will be carried out by The Red Cross and have already started in cities across the UK. They'll be offered to riders in the other countries Deliveroo operates in from September and accompanied by a first aid information app which all rider can access when they're out on the road.
Our riders are heroes – and this training will help them play an even more important role in the communities where they work, as well as giving them skills that they can use throughout their lives.
