The beginning of a new year, especially a new decade, is a great time to make positive changes and resolve to lead a healthier lifestyle.
The overwhelming majority of people across the country agree, sharing a genuine intention to improve their health and wellbeing.
New research shows that more than ever, Brits want to eat healthier food in 2020. 75% of people in the UK want to eat healthier food this coming year compared to 2019.
It's official. 2020 is the year of healthy eating.
As a registered nutritionist I wholeheartedly support this movement. I have long believed in and championed the importance of diet for health and happiness.
But as we all know, the best intentioned resolutions can be hard to maintain as the year goes on, especially with busy professional and family lives.
This is why Deliveroo is leading the way in matching the power of technology and convenience with healthier options.
New data shows that 69% of people would like to see healthier options on food delivery apps, and 70% of the public would be more likely to order from these apps if they had a wider choice of healthy options. This shoots up to 88% for young people between 18-24.
It makes perfect sense when you think about it. It's no secret that we are a nation that loves to order our favourite takeaway meal straight to our home, and I am no different!
Yet we also want to see more healthy options available at the touch of a button, as it requires minimum fuss, can be shared with family and friends, and doesn't need to cost the earth.
The good news is that Deliveroo is paying attention and there is a rapidly increasing selection of healthy, affordable choices on offer. That is exactly why I have teamed up with them this year.
I helped Deliveroo devise the very healthiest takeaways, creating a menu of mouth-wateringly quick, affordable and nutritious meals.
First up is the 'Dream Burger' range, covering the most nutritious, affordable and tasty burgers and sides.
Our range of new burgers look like a burger, sizzle like a burger, and taste like a burger. They just don't contain beef. Our aim is to show people that making a small change, such as substituting meat with a plant-based food, can taste just as good as the original! They are also low in sugar, high in protein and served on a fibre-friendly carrot and turmeric bun, with the option of adding kale slaw or sweet potato wedges on the side.
We are also supporting the UK's biggest restaurants to increase their choice of healthy options. Current partners include Barburrito and their newly launched delivery-only brand - Twisted Health Kitchen. Together we have created The RhiNourish Bowl which is packed full of healthy vegetables and ingredients, and made healthy improvements to a number of their dishes.
The partnership with Deliveroo aims to combine my experience as a registered nutritionist with their nationwide reach to increase the number of healthier takeaway options across the nation.
Our approach really couldn't be more straightforward and reflects exactly what the public are asking for. We want to bring everyone's favourite food to their home, at an affordable price, and healthier than ever before.
Together, we are determined to spread the message far and wide in 2020 that healthy eating doesn't need to cost the earth or mean a complete change in lifestyle.
Deliveroo is absolutely committed to leading change in this area to develop healthier takeaway brands and support restaurants to offer healthier meals across the UK this year.
Whether it's a treat for all the family on the weekend, or a dinner for one infront of your favourite movie, there are plenty of healthy options on offer and all at the touch of a button!
No high expectations, no pressure, no fads, just a simple mission to increase the range of healthier takeaways and dispel any belief that healthy food is expensive, hard to find and can't taste amazing.
That's my nutritionist-approved roundup of the tastiest, most nutritious food that can arrive straight to your front door!
Food should always be a positive aspect of life, offering enjoyment, fuel and happiness for both the mind and body.
2020 is the year of healthy eating, and Deliveroo is making it happen.
