Deliveroo’s ten most popular dishes ordered around the world in 2017

Was your 2017 on Deliveroo a year of discovery or was there a classic dish you just couldn't get enough of? We've delved into our data from the past 12 months to find out what the ten most-ordered Deliveroo dishes were around the world, so you can see if your favourite meal made the list.

2017: the year of the cheeseburger

We all love trying new dishes and giving the latest food trends a go – our data showed foodies on Deliveroo got more experimental than ever last year. But there was one timeless dish that took the top spot – and in 2017, it was the cheeseburger. Of all the dishes ordered on Deliveroo, the most popular worldwide was Le Big Fernand from Lille-based restaurant Big Fernand. The other cheeseburgers to stake a claim in the top ten were Five Guys' cheeseburger in third place and Gourmet Burger Kitchen's 6oz cheeseburger in at number ten.

2017 was also a big year for burritos, with Dublin's Boojum boasting the second most-ordered dish in the world and Dubai's Taqado Mexican Kitchen in fifth place. Here's what the top ten looked like:

Aside from burgers and burritos, last year we took our taste buds a little further afield, as picture-perfect Hawaiian poké bowls rose in popularity. Brightly coloured buddha bowls were also a big hit, while more of us turned to the dark side by snapping our charcoal dishes for Instagram. And one of the more unlikely food trends to crawl up the trends list was edible insects, with everything from cricket som tam salad to critter-packed puddings available on Deliveroo's Eat Grub pop-up restaurant.

In the UK, although we never shy away from trialing the latest food trends, our top ten consisted mainly of classic dishes and flavour combinations:
