Tasty Indian Side Dishes you can Turn into Mains

From spice to nice: These Indian dishes don't need to be your bit on the side!

When it comes to ordering a takeaway in Brighton, there are so many amazing dishes that it can be quite difficult to know what to actually get. After all, you know that you're hungry, but can you decide what kind of food you want? Once you know that, do you know which place you're going to order from? It can be overwhelming - decisions, decisions indeed!

Then you have Indian food throwing a spanner into the works. You've picked your favourite place... but now you've seen the side dishes. A lot of them tend to be just as good (if not better, in all honesty) than some of the main dishes themselves.

Here's a roundup of a few of our faves, as though choosing what to eat wasn't already complicated enough. Sorry, not sorry!

1. Chilli Pickle: Fiery Vindaloo Wings

Think you can hack the heat? Go on then, prove it! The Chilli Pickle Canteen dishes up the hottest chicken wings around, for anyone who dares give them a go. Jokes aside, they're delicious, but they're probably not for the faint-hearted. If you're normally a mild korma type of guy or gal, you might want to sit these out. For anyone else who's interested, these are super-popular, so make sure you grab them before they go!

Fav takeaway. Always 🌶

2. Indian Summer: Masala Dosa

There are so many different side dishes and starters to choose from on the menu at Indian Summer, so you really will be spoiled for choice. The starters here aren't your typical samosas and bhajis, each adds their own uniqueness to the menu. But the masala dosa is the real show-stopper, and as it's gluten free and vegetarian, it's absolutely loved by almost all. As such, it's incredibly popular! So, what exactly is it? This dish comprises of a golden rice and lentil pancake, that's packed full with delicious and savoury vegetables. It's served with sambhar and coconut chutney, to give it a really exotic flavour.

3. Chaula's: Chaula's Vegetarian mixed platter

On this menu, vegetarians are more than catered to, with not one but two vegetarian platters. Chaula's understands that you don't necessarily need meat to make good food, or indeed to make a meal. In theory, you're supposed to split these platters, before ordering the main. But you can essentially do whatever you like - we don't judge! Indulge in the likes of samosas, kachoris, bhajis and more; and savour each one's individual flavour, all on one plate. With so much choice and selection, you don't need anything else (but their main menu is worth a look, as well).
