Everyone in Manchester knows the secrets of the Rusholme curry mile – so they're not really secrets at all! In fact, Wilmslow Road is home to some of the best Indian food not just in the city, but in the country. Bold claims there, but it's hardly surprising when Manchester is full of amazing choices for Indian takeaway – just see our selections below! The vibe of the so-called "curry mile" stretches far and wide in this city. Seems like a perfect place to take a date, then. Of course, it's not just curries. Indian side dishes and starters are just as good as the main event. Don't believe us? First take a look, then have a taste!
1. Ziya - Platters To Share
If you want choice, you've got it at Ziya. Recognising the fact that everyone has different tastes, they have not one, not two, but three selections of their sharing platters. Meat makes an appearance, containing chicken tikka, seekh kebab, oat lamb cutlets and Achari chicken wings. Then there's the veggie platter (not just for vegetarians), packed full of flavour and delicious offerings such as paneer tikka, punjabi samosas and more. Finally, there's the seafood selection, starring Tempura prawns and salmon tikka. It's a tough choice, but they're all so good we're convinced you'll be satisfied no matter what you choose.
Here's a delicious looking curry from Ziya Restaurant on The Curry Mile. If you haven't been to explore this area before, we would thoroughly recommend it. On Wimslow Road, running through Rusholme, there is a fantastic array of at least 70 restaurants specialising in the cuisines of South Asia and The Middle East. It's thought to be the largest concentration of South Asian restaurants outside the Indian subcontinent, all within the length of half a mile. 2. Swadesh - Mixed Grill Platter
Well, this one's a meat-lover's dream! Fresh off the grill, Swadesh brings a selection of meats with an Indian twist to your table (or the sofa in front of your TV – it is takeaway, after all). You'll get chicken tikka, tandoori salmon, kebab and chop tikka. Now, it says it's for two, but that's honestly up to you! Order one each if you and your Valentine are up for a challenge.
3. EastZEast - EastZEast Mixed Starter For Two
This one's served up on a silver platter... well, almost – but isn't a sizzle platter better? EastZEast know that sometimes it's honestly just so hard to pick, so they give you a little bit of everything. Fish tikka, kebab, chicken wings, onion bhaji and samosas ensure you've got a real mix, and that you're well and truly spoiled!
4. Asha's - Asha's Banquet For Two
How's this for a meal deal? Yes, you want starters… but how about adding the sides, the curries… the lot? Don't worry, Asha's – another choice pick from Manchester's curry mile – can do that for you. Their banquet for two has a little bit of everything. You've got tikka, rogan josh, butter chicken, dal mhakani, and even rice and naan bread. Oh, and if that wasn't enough? They've also thrown in a beer each, for good measure. We've really got your perfect Valentine's Day covered with this one.
