There's something about diving into a steak. It always brings a feeling of indulgence or having a treat attached to it. It's not just about re-fueling; this is about having a proper meal. It's not just about getting your daily calories in; a steak's something we order when we want to celebrate, or to mark an occasion. Partly that's driven by the price, partly by the fact that we consider a steak to be a special treat.
So, when you order a steak, you may as well go all out, and order a steak dish that's truly extravagant. And that's exactly what we've looked at here - five fabulous steak dishes you can order in Manchester or, if you don't feel like eating out, have delivered to your door with Deliveroo.
1. Grain Fed Sirloin
Very fittingly, the Grain Fed Sirloin is the most expensive steak on the menu at Miller & Carter. This is a 10oz steak that comes from grain-fed beef which is aged for 50 days to give it a buttery, rich flavour. The chefs recommend that you enjoy this tender cut of meat medium-rare. It comes with seasoned fries, balsamic tomato, parsley butter, a steak sauce and a slice of onion loaf.
2. Churrasco De Lomo
The Churrasco de Lomo is a spiral cut of beef that has been raised on the Argentinean pampas. This particular 400g steak is first marinated in garlic, parsley and olive oil for 48 hours before it's grilled to perfection for you.
This steak features on the Gaucho menu and they recommend ordering Empanadas to go with it. Empanadas are deep-fried pastries stuffed with creamed corn, humita, diced beef, tomato and mozzarella.
3. Australian Aberdeen Black Fillet
The Australian Aberdeen Black Fillet is one of the finest cuts of beef in the world, and weighing in at only 287g, it's quite a posh treat at The Grill on New York Street.
However, just the first bite will reassure you that you've made the right choice, and as a bonus, it comes with chips, so you really don't need to order anything else. However, there's a selection of steak sauces and sides that will probably tempt you at The Grill on New York Street's menu.
4. English Galician Sirloin
The English Galician Sirloin is one of the premium steaks on the menu at The Grill On The Alley, and that's because the cattle that it comes from has lived for up to 17 years before being slaughtered. To put that in perspective, most British cattle only live for two or three years before being slaughtered, so the Galician has much longer to mature in flavour; just in the same way an older wine does. Now's your chance to see if the ageing of the beef before slaughter makes a radical difference to the taste!
5. Steak and Eggs
Steak isn't just about dinner, of course. It can be a great component to an extravagant breakfast or brunch too, and that's what the guys at Federal Café & Bar had in mind when they came up with their dish, Steak and Eggs.
This tender 8oz sirloin steak is served with fried eggs, salsa verde and tomato relish; a perfect start to the day if you wake up with a big appetite!
