2. Tuk Tuck

Established in the spring of last year by founders Alex Slatter and Quan Cui, Tuk Tuck aims to deliver traditional Asian street food to the people of Bristol. All ingredients are sourced from local suppliers, while recipes have all been concocted by Slatter and Cui themselves. True, many of these dishes are Korean in nature, but there are Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai twists every now and again. The kimchi beef fries seem to be a particular favourite amongst visitors, though the dumplings are supposed to be fantastic too.

At some point during 2002, co-founder Pranee and her husband sat in a tiny fisherman's cottage attempted to put together a Thai tapas menu. They aimed to create dishes and flavour combinations like those created in Thailand, where every mealtime consists of sharing meals with each other. Soon enough, that tiny fisherman's cottage became the Giggling Squid and customers from all over the UK came to try the Thai tapas menu the owners had created, as well as the regular-sized dishes such as Thai red curry and steamed sea bass fillet.
