It's 2017, long gone are the days when healthy eating felt like a chore. Soho's salad scene is booming, with tonnes of new restaurants popping up on every street corner. Not sure where to go for your next healthy hit? Never fear, we've compiled a list of our top five favourites:
At Ethos, you control every single element of your salad, down to the last pine nut. Butternut squash? You got it. Marinated olives with artichoke hearts? Yes sir. Sweet potato fries to round the whole thing off? Sounds like a plan. With Deliveroo, the salad of your dreams is just a few clicks away.
The Life Goddess
Olives ripening under the Greek sun. Fish pulled straight from the Aegean. Chicken reared under the light of the Acropolis. It all sounds a bit too good to be true, doesn't it? But that's what The Life Goddess is all about – too good to be true. All the food is grown and sourced in Greece, so you know you're getting some of the most authentic Mediterranean ingredients around. Try the Greek summer octopus, cooked for four hours in red wine and served with ripe tomatoes and smoky aubergine, or for all the vegetarians out there, why not plump for the black risotto with sweet pumpkin puree. This Hellenic hotspot isn't one to miss out on, and with Deliveroo, you don't have to.
Bringing downtown, rough-and-ready Peruvian flavours to the streets of London, Ceviche Soho is the way to go for a South American salad extravaganza. It's easy to see why they were voted London's 6th best restaurant by TimeOut. Their range of summery salads are packed full of hidden goodies and tangy treats – we're in love with the solteron, a zesty mix of Amarillo chilli, feta cheese, palm heart and choclo popcorn.
The Detox Kitchen
Clean eating at its best, The Detox Kitchen doesn't mess around. Their mission statement is simple: nourishing and tasty food that you can trust. Salads come in medium or large options, while there are also egg wraps, breakfast pots and snacks to get stuck into. Need something to wash down your meal? No problem, The Detox Kitchen also offers a range of thirst-quenching juices. The 'Avo Pina Banana' is chock full of pineapple, avocado, spinach, rice milk and (yes, you guessed it) banana, while the 'Fabulously Focused' takes ginger, carrot and apple to the next level.
No, you're not in Beirut, but we don't blame you for thinking you might be! Offering an extensive menu of light and wholesome Lebanese food, Comptoir Libinais provides a dash of Middle Eastern glamour with your salad. The freekeh, with smoked green wheat, spring onion and vine tomato, is one of our top picks, while the tabbouleh and fattoush salads deliver a tangy punch of flavour that's got no business being as healthy as it is. The star of the show is undoubtedly the mezze platter, a glorious box of baba ghanuj, falafel, freekeh salad, pickles, grilled halloumi, hummus, tabbouleh and warm pita bread. Who said salad was boring? Not us.
