London is home to some of the world's finest fish restaurants. Whether you fancy a fish supper or a classically prepared meal, Deliveroo has you covered. We've picked out five of our very favourite spots – time to dive in.
Simple and elegant, the classic British fare served up at Fish Market is one for the connoisseur. Almost all the fish comes from British waters, and with Head Chef Lawrence Keogh at the helm, it's plain sailing all the way to dessert. The dressed Cornish crab served with rye bread is a traditional seaside favourite, while the grilled Dover sole, served off the bone, represents the very best in contemporary cooking. Already worked up an appetite? We're not surprised.
First established over 150 years ago, Kennedy's is one of the oldest and most established fish restaurants in the capital. They started out as a butchers and still serve a wide variety of meat dishes, but make no mistake, Kennedy's is all about the fish, no bones about it. The mixed fish grill is our personal favourite – it's salmon, halibut, tuna and king prawns all served up with a generous side of garlic and lemon butter. Now that's a crowd-pleaser if we've ever heard one.
3. Fish Fish
So good they named it twice, Fish Fish delivers an exquisite range of fish dishes, cooked to perfection. They're a true testament to London's fishing industry, having won a Time Out Love London award in 2015. Choose from cod, haddock, salmon, swordfish or scampi sourced straight from Billingsgate. Their 'Healthy Living' range is packed full of delicious options: Aegean bream, chilli flavoured sea bass, halibut steak. We're already reeled in.
4. The Fish House of Notting Hill
Comfort food at its very best, The Fish House of Notting Hill is one of the capital's best places to go for a slap up fish supper. All the fish is fresh and sustainably sourced, and no matter what type of fish you're into, you're sure to find something to savour on the restaurant's extensive menu. Cod, plaice, scampi, lemon sole and haddock are all available, or for something a little more exotic, there's also a rock eel dish. Bringing the best British coastal catches to the streets of London, The Fish House of Notting Hill is an inspired choice.
5. Olley's Fish Experience
Named after the main character in Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, Olley's Fish Experience is an award-winning fish and chip shop that's up there with the very best of them. The menu's so big, there's almost too much to choose from. We love the fried MSC haddock fillet, a flaky option which delivers smooth flavour by the bucketful. Got room for dessert? There's spotted dick, treacle pudding, sticky toffee pudding, gourmet ice cream and berry mousse to choose from, as well as a fine selection of wines and gluten-free beers. Please sir, can we have some more?
