6 of the best brekkies in Birmingham

Whether you're a late riser or up at the crack of dawn as a commuter, breakfast can be hard to work into your morning. So to makes things a bit easier for you, we've rounded up a few awesome brekkie spots in Birmingham to point you in the right direction…

1. Avocado Smash, Giraffe

From their Big Brunch, with smoky bacon and Cumberland sausage, to golden NY Granola served with thick Greek yogurt, mango, strawberries, blueberries and pomegranate, there's something to please every type of morning person here at Giraffe. We love their refreshing Avocado Smash though, served with chilli, parsley and roasted vine tomatoes on artisan, sourdough toast.

Where: Giraffe, Birmingham City Centre

2. Acai Bowl, U-Juice

U-Juice has become a favourite breakfast spot for vegans, and when you look at their antioxidant and superfood packed acai bowls, it's no surprise. Not only will you get a handy takeaway bowl filled with acai berries, blueberries, dates, banana and almond milk, but you can choose five extra ingredients as toppings. Their Hangover Cure juice is a must for the weekend though, containing spinach, beetroot, apple, lemon, ginger and honey.

Where: U-Juice, Bullring

3. Merry Berry, CrepeAffaire

As you can probably guess from their name, CrepeAffaire specialise in all things batter-y, rustling up both savour and sweet goodies. Try their classic Wiltshire ham and cheese or smoked salmon, cream cheese and chive for something traditional. Or how about their pesto, mozzarella and chicken for an Italian twist? But if like us you like a sweet start to the morning, opt for the Merry Berry, topped with seasonal berries, honey, mint and yoghurt.

4. All Day Breakfast, Niche Café

Sandwiches, baguettes, toasties and fry-ups – pretty much any classic breakfast dish can be ordered from the Niche Café. We love their hearty hash brown and baked bean sandwich for a comfort food kick, but in case you woke up a little later than planned, you can order their All-Day Breakfast, with fried eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, beans, tomato and toast.

Where: Niche Café, Jewellery Quarter

5. Eggs Royale, Carluccio's

If you're looking for a real treat, Carluccio's offers a bit more of a luxurious option. Their Eggs Royale sees two perfectly poached eggs balanced on top of freshly-baked, toasted Italian bread. Covered with layers of soft smoked salmon and smothered in a rich, creamy hollandaise sauce, it'll be the perfect start to your day.

Where: Carluccio's, 3 locations across Birmingham

6. Banoffee crepe, Coffee Time

If you prefer something sweet and sticky for breakfast to give you a sugar rush, you can count on Coffee Time to provide the answer. Their banoffee, Nutella and banana or white chocolate and raspberry crepes will hit the spot – all you need is one of their cappuccinos made from the finest coffee beans to top it off.
