If you have been caught up in the frenzy of Veganuary, the global campaign to encourage people to try a vegan diet throughout January, you'll probably need some pointers as to the best meals you can find that are meat, fish, dairy and egg-free.
Fortunately, at Deliveroo, we have a growing army of vegan restaurants devising delicious faux-meat, non-dairy and all-around "faux food" dishes with very animal-friendly vegan substitutes.
1. Tofu Ramen - Bone Daddies
One of Soho's first Japanese ramen bars, Bone Daddies continues to serve up hearty bowls of noodle soup packed with fresh vegetables. Their vegan-friendly Tofu Ramen is cooked in a spicy, fruity Japanese curry broth, topped with fresh, soft tofu and a hint of chilli oil for a much-needed kick. It rivals other noodle dishes every day of the week. If you're looking for an addictive side dish to go with your ramen, check out their Edamame, served with their incredibly moreish steamed and salted soybeans.
2. Chick'n - Mildreds
Mildreds are one of London's most impressive champions of vegan and vegetarian cuisine. Their creative main dishes are perfect for those undertaking Veganuary and seeking tasty alternatives to meat and fish-based meals. Their Chick'n dish features deep-fried vegan buttermilk and polenta mock chicken pieces, complete with sweet potato fries and a tangy red cabbage and maple slaw.
3. Prestigio (Bounty) Cake - Essential Vegan
Located in the heart of trendy Shoreditch is Essential Vegan, serving up exactly what it says on the tin - delicious savoury and sweet treats for vegans in East London. If you're looking for the perfect place to order an 'elevensies' with your mid-morning coffee this Veganuary, can we suggest their Prestigio Cake? Inspired by the Bounty chocolate bar, this rich chocolate cake boasts a sweet coconut filling topped with smooth chocolate-flavoured icing. It's the perfect pick-me-up if you've had a manic start to the month!
4. Sweet Green Bowl - Ahi Poke
You'd be forgiven for knowing very little about Hawaiian cuisine before poke bowls came onto the scene. Ahi Poke's fusion of Hawaiian poke and Japanese sushi bowls will keep you coming back for more. Their vegan-friendly Sweet Green Bowl features miso-soaked tofu, edamame and sweet potato in an exquisite sweet ponzu sauce. You can even build your own bowl with miso tofu as the base of your vegan-friendly poke bowl.
5. Vegan Ice Cream - 222 Veggie Vegan
Who said dairy eaters have all the fun? At 222 Veggie Vegan, these guys serve up ethically-sourced mains and desserts from their store in London's West Kensington. They simply love what they're doing and were recognised for their efforts to bring super-yummy vegan treats to the city by the TimeOut Love London Awards in 2015. Their Vegan Ice Cream can be delivered with a selection of flavours and is also wheat and gluten-free. We also recommend their signature 222 Pancake, which is vegan vanilla ice cream wrapped in a warm, homemade pancake and topped with gooey chocolate sauce - heaven on a plate!
