Great-tasting pizza is no longer off-limits to vegans in Brighton. That's because the city is full of authentic Italian takeaway restaurants cooking fresh handmade cheesy vegan pizzas that are winning over the hearts and minds of those wishing to remove animal products from their diet.
Vegans love pizza just as much as the next person, so it's great to see that Brighton is doing its bit to supply quirky vegan Italian menus; some of the restaurants featured below are vegan-only pizza parlours too!
1. Nuposto, West Street
West Street is one of the most prominent streets in Brighton city centre, so many of the restaurants situated here will deliver to much of central Brighton. Nuposto is an authentic Neapolitan-style pizzeria which creates delicious hand-made pizzas and offers a great range of wines and beers – all of which are available for delivery with us!
We also recently noticed that these guys have started offering their very own vegan pizza – all of their pizzas come with crispy thin bases and their new vegan version is no exception. With a tomato base, it's topped with red onions, vegan mozzarella, olives, mushrooms and oregano for a true taste of Italy.
2. Pizzaface, Kemptown
In the heart of Kemptown towards the east end of Brighton's seafront is vegan-friendly Pizzaface. Since 2009, Bertie and Woody have transformed Pizzaface into a very popular place for vegans to get their Italian takeaway fix. They have a stunning stone-based oven, which cooks all of their pizzas perfectly at temperatures reaching 300 degrees-plus.
More recently, their unique menu has evolved and begun to cater more regularly to Brighton's vegan community. Their vegan pizzas are all named after famous rock stars, with the Ozzy a particular favourite (even topped with vegan chorizo, pepperoni and smoked sausage for a faux meat feast!)
3. Purezza, St James's Street
It doesn't get more vegan in Brighton than at Purezza. Inspired by the vegan revolution in other UK cities such as Leeds, these guys have created an all-vegan pizzeria, with hand-stretched sourdough pizzas that are guaranteed to tempt the taste buds. These guys get really creative, not only using tomato bases but also using scrumptious butternut squash and hummus bases to add different dimensions and textures.
The Pesto Manifesto is one of our favourites, using pesto as a yummy base, topped with red onions, charred courgettes, pine nuts, spinach leaves and cherry tomatoes, it's so rich and fresh at the same time!
4. ASK Italian, Ship Street
It's also great to see that a popular chain such as ASK Italian now offering a full vegan menu to the residents of Brighton. Their takeaway vegan Prima Pizzas allow you to add three toppings to their tomato and vegan mozzarella base, including sautéed mushrooms, caramelised onions, roasted peppers and artichokes.
If you're feeling really peckish for your Saturday night pizza takeaway, ASK also do a good range of vegan snacks and sides to compliment your fresh pizza.
